I am really happy to announce that Dr. Emily Keller, LLC, is now approved by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) as an Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP). We had already been an approved provider of continuing education by the Association for Play Therapy. With the NBCC ACEP approval, I will be able to expand my outreach!

I started my counseling education journey in 1997. In 2014, I graduated with a doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision. My goals to create and offer engaging in-person and online training content were stalled in 2018 when I decided to change career paths. I believed that I could find a way to both be at home more with my family and create and offer engaging counselor continuing education and supervision opportunities. I just needed the time to build and expand a platform.

Emily Keller, LLC has been approved by the National Board for Certified Counselors as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7123.

This past year and a half have been hard on all of us. For me, the demands of virtual education, supporting my husband in his career(s), while also moving households for the second time in 12 months required me to further put on hold this career vision. I found myself emerging from the lockdown wondering where exactly to begin while also realizing that I had put on hold the reconstruction of my self-narrative as a working woman and mother.

I sought therapy. It helped to have a space for holding all my thoughts and feelings … all the strings of self that I wanted to weave together.

At some point, I gained clarity about what the future, which until recently seemed to be obscured in a fog of unknowns, might look like. I started to collage. As I did, the picture of what I wanted to create became clearer.

I had the vision. I found myself waiting for the decision from NBCC.

Yesterday, I got the good news about approval.

Last night, I started to create and update content.

I look forward to sharing continuing education programs that offer counselors and other mental health professionals evidence-based resources to expand and deepen their capacities to invite clients into healing, wholeness, and expressions of authentic self.

I am passionate about this work because I believe that each of us carries within us some piece of the healing that the world so desperately needs today. And, truly, in many cases, it is the world and its many systems that are sick and in need of healing.

I look forward to co-exploring and co-learning opportunities with you.
